The Caribbean is located between the Golf of Mexico, Northern America, Central America and South America. It consists of the Caribbean Sea, the Caribbean Islands and the surrounding coasts and is home to many of the most popular offshore jurisdictions. The most well known islands (among 7,000 others) are Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bay Islands, Montserrat, Dominica, Cayman Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Caribbean is home to estimated 37.5 million people and totals an area of 4,020 km in length and 257 km in width where 13 sovereign states, 2 overseas departments and 14 independent territories are located.
